About Me

My name is Mackenzie Oliver

Growing up as an only child, I had much time to live in my imagination. I spent time creating, thinking out loud and learning by doing.

 

This fueled my passion as I got older for creative arts and pursuing a diploma in Creative Communications program at Red River College Polytechnic. This program has allowed me to grow, master my skills, and package it all with a strategic plan. 


I excel in overseeing major projects, creative strategy, and delivering impactful campaigns that resonate with your target audience resulting in meaningful results.

2023-2025

Creative Communications
Red River College Polytechnic

  • Built full strategic communication plans, including audience research, demographic breakdowns, content calendars, and budgets. I also created and edited content for the CreComm LinkedIn page, including videos, infographics, and photography.
  • Collaborated with the Sport Manitoba Clinic to develop a comprehensive content and communications strategy. I’m responsible for writing blog posts and producing original social media content tailored to their audience.
  • One of the biggest highlights for me was leading the planning and execution of a mock news conference. I designed and produced the media kit, helped manage the event, and brought the overall brand vision to life. The project received great feedback and was a proud moment in my PR journey.

Asper Media Studies Award

Red River College Polytechnic

  • Consistently managed tight deadlines, juggled multiple projects, and always stayed on top of my work. I’ve never missed a deadline or needed an extension — staying organized is something I take pride in.
  • Awarded to a full-time first-year Creative Communications student at RRC Polytech who has achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need. The award recognizes academic success, dedication to media studies, and a strong commitment to educational goals.

  • Spent several years deepening my writing, critical thinking, and communication skills through a mix of creative writing, literature analysis, and historical research.
  • Learned how to look at stories — and people — from multiple angles, which has shaped the way I approach storytelling in both creative and strategic work.
  • Took a variety of courses that helped me explore the power of language and how it influences culture, identity, and connection.
  • Completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certification, which strengthened my understanding of clear, accessible communication.
  • Graduated with a strong foundation in writing, research, and academic analysis — all of which I now bring into my work in PR, content creation, and media.

Bruce Oake Recovery Centre

  • Developed a full social media calendar for the year in one week — from content ideas and design to copywriting and scheduling.
  • Created a communications plan to support the centre during a key transitional phase, ensuring clear and thoughtful messaging.
  • Produced videos, reels, graphics, and event materials while juggling tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Contributed to event planning, community outreach, and overall brand strategy with a flexible, team-first mindset.

Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries

  • Worked with the events team to represent the brand at major community events like golf tournaments, Sea Bears games, and Winnipeg Blue Bomber games.
  • Focused on creating real, meaningful connections with the public while promoting responsible drinking through the DrinkSense campaign.
  • Helped plan and coordinate event logistics, engage with guests, and support marketing goals with creative communication strategies.
